PEPT: Labour Party rejects tribunal judgment

The Labour Party, (LP), has stirred up its supporters to take back Nigeria in whatever way possible.

The party dropped the message on its Facebook page as Nigerians awaited the verdict of the presidential election petitions tribunal on the legitimate winner of the February 25 presidential poll.

The statement on the LPs page reads: Nigerians be ready to take back your country, in whatever way you can. Nobody is more Nigerian than any Nigerian.

The Labour Party, (LP), has said the much-awaited judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which sat yesterday in Abuja.

The party, in a statement issued earlier, said that the verdict of Justice Haruna Tsammani-led panel did not reflect the law and the desire of the people, adding that it weeps for Nigerias democracy even as it rejected in its entirety.

It also stated that justice was not served, as it recalled that Nigerians were witnesses to the electoral robbery that took place on February 25, 2023, which was globally condemned but the Tribunal in its wisdom refused to accept the obvious.

National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, in the statement, pointed out that, The Labour Party watched with dismay and trepidation the dismissal of petitions by the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petition Court led by today and we reject the outcome of the judgment in its entirety because justice was not served and it did not reflect the law and the desire of the people.

“Nigerians were witnesses to the electoral robbery that took place on February 25, 2023, which was globally condemned but the Tribunal in its wisdom refused to accept the obvious. While insisting that Nigerias democracy was at stake, it also pledged not to relent until the will of the people prevail.

The party went on to salute the doggedness of our team of lawyers who fearlessly exposed the rot in our system. It added that whilst it weeps for the countrys democratic journey, it refuses to give up on Nigeria.

Accordingly, it assured Nigerians that it will publish details of its position after consultation with our lawyers after the Certified True Copy of the judgment. It urged all lovers of democracy to remain focused and hopeful because a new Nigeria is possible.
